This site indicates just how ineffective mulch is as an erosion control method. Rather than preventing runoff, it is actually contributing to the material that leaves the site during rainfall events.

Event 11 - Thursday, 31 Dec 2020

Still no erosion controls across the entrance. Muddy runoff is leaving the site, along with the mulch. The mulch is doing nothing to stop the runoff and is, in fact, adding to the pollution problem as it is transported down the gutter to the stormwater sewers and enventually to the streams.

Event 10 - Saturday, 19 Dec 2020

It is quite obvious that the mulch (which is not an approved erosion control method) has no effect in controlling muddy runoff from the site..

Event 9 - Sunday, 06 Dec 2020

Photo 1 - Pile of dirt with no covering and no erosion controls across entrance.

Photo 2 - Dirt and debris in the gutter.

Photo 3 - Sediment in the street that has not been cleaned up.

Event 8 - Wednesday, 09 Sep 2020

Photo 1 - Starting to rain. The lumber and mulch will not prevent muddy runoff from leaving the site as evidenced in the next photo.

Photo 2 - Muddy runoff heading down the gutter.

Event 7 - Wednesday, 02 Sep 2020

Still no erosion controls across entrance. Lumber is not an erosion control. Still no j-hook on silt fence. Mulch that was placed on the site has become part of the problem as it is now in the gutter where it will be washed away.

Event 6 - Saturday, 22 Aug 2020

Still no erosion controls across entrance. Dirt and sediment in the street will be washed down the gutters when it rains.

Event 5 - Thursday, 13 Aug 2020

Photo 1 - This mulch sock will have little impact on preventing runoff.

Photo 2 - This cement residue resulted from a discharge associated with concrete work that was performed earlier in the day.

Event 4 - Tuesday, 04 Aug 2020

Still no controls across the entrance. Huge pile of dirt has not been covered to prevent erosion when it rains. A significant amount of sediment is still in the street.

Event 3 - Monday, 03 Aug 2020

Still no controls across the entrance. Sediment that was washed into the street and has not been cleaned up.

Event 2 - Friday, 31 Jul 2020

This is what happens when there are no controls across the entrance.

This video follows the muddy runoff down the gutter.

Event 1 - Tuesday, 28 Jul 2020

This site has no controls across the entrance and the silt fence to the left has no j-hook. If it rains, this site will be a big problem.
