Erosion Control Issues at Multiple Sites (Thursday, December 31, 2020)

The following photos from 18 sites taken on Decemeber 31, 2020. All but one of the sites are in the Zilker neighborhood. That one is in the Barton Hills neighborhood. Photo 1 - Mangled silt fence and missing erosion control.

Photo 1 - Mulch socks to not meet installation specifications and one is deteriorating to the point of becoming a pollution problem itself.

1908 Garner

Photo 1 - No erosion controls.

Photo 1 - No controls erosion controls across driveway allowing fill material to escape. It is visible on driveway apron and in the gutter.

1901 Hether

Photo 1 - No erosion controls.

1912 Hether

Photo 1 - No erosion controls across a portion of the site.

Photo 2 - Flattened silt fence.

1815 Kerr

Photo 1 - Totally inadequate erosion controls (they are all flattened).

2012 Meadowridge (in the Barton Springs Zone)

Photo 1 - A little piece of a silt fence. It is not even clear what its purpose is.

Photo 2 - No erosion controls.

2903 Oakhaven (in the Barton Springs Zone)

Photo 1 - Inadequate controls across driveway allows sediment and muddy runoff to leave the site

2010 Oxford

Photo 1 - Inadequate erosion controls. Mulch is not an approved for erosion control.

Photo 2 - Inadequate erosion controls. Mulch is not an approved for erosion control and flattened mulch socks provide almost no control.

2001 Peach Tree (in the Barton Springs Zone)

Photo 1 - Silt fence has been rolled back so there are no longer any erosion controls.

Photo 2 - Inadequate erosion controls and the ones present not properly installed.

Photo 3 - Privacy fence hides the fact that there are no erosion controls behind it.

Photo 4 - Gap in silt fence.

2107 Peach Tree (in the Barton Springs Zone)

Photo 1 - Inadequate erosion controls. Mulch is not an approved for erosion control. Silt fence has no j-hook.

1813 Treadwell

Photo 1 - Inadeqate erosion controls. Runoff will just go around the ends of mulch sock.

Photo 2 - Muddy runoff streaming off site and running between the two houses, emptying directly over the top of the storm sewer and into the storm inlet.
