Zilker Botanical Garden

Zilker Botanical Garden is located within Zilker Metropolitan Park between Barton Springs Road, Stratford Drive, and MoPac. It is a 26-acre area featureing theme gardens such as rose, herb and Japanese gardens interconnected with streams, waterfalls and Koi-filled ponds. The Hartman Prehistoric Garden recreates local dinosaur habitat.

This garden was a collaboration between The City of Austin Parks & Recreation Department (PARD) and the Austin Area Garden Council (AAGC) which began in 1955. In 2015, the Zilker Botanical Garden Conservancy (ZBGC) was established in 2015 to fulfill the initial goals of transforming Zilker Botanical Garden (ZBG) and transitioning operations from Austin Area Garden Council (AAGC) and the City of Austin – in particular the City Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) – to the Conservancy.

The garden is open to the public most days year-round. There is a nominal admission charge.
