Fire Station No. 11
History
Fire Station 11, located at 1605 Kinney Avenue, was completed and placed in service on May 5, 1949.
Fire Station Visits
AFD will accommodate visits to fire stations for small groups. No minimum number of visitors is required. Normal hours for station visits are 9 – 11 a.m. and 1 - 6 p.m. Officially, the City states that to arrange a tour, you should contact the City's Public Education Office (512-974-0290) to schedule at least a week in advance.
Future Plans
The City lot at Kinney Avenue and Collier Street upon which Fire Station No. 11 sits has a large open area to the east of the station along Collier Street. In 2011, the Urban Parks Workgroup listed this area as a "High Opportunity Site."
In 2015-2016, ZNA met with AFD staff and management, the City's Brownfields office, and Council Member Anne Kitchen's staff, about possible uses for the open area, including a pocket park, community garden, or small exercise track.
